Popronde is a free nationwide travelling festival that visits around 40 cities across the Netherlands every autumn. In cafés, clubs, record stores, theatres and other venues, a new generation of Dutch artists gets the chance to perform for audiences, press and promoters. The programme ranges from rock, hip-hop and metal to electronic music, singer-songwriters and everything in between. Each year, around one hundred acts are selected from more than a thousand applications to gain live experience outside their own region. Popronde is not a competition, but a showcase festival and springboard for emerging talent. Former participants including Froukje, De Staat, Pip Blom, MEAU, Racoon and The Vices have since become established names.
