Salsa Para Todx #2: Alex Figueira, MeRas, El Javier_B, Krmen w. Live percussion

WORM presents the second edition of Salsa Para Todxs! An underground Salsa night for everybody and every body. No rules, no labels – just love for salsa and dancing! On the decks: MeRas, El Melómano Alemán, and El Javier_B—each bringing their own flavour to the floor. Live percussion by Krmen, keeping the rhythm raw, alive, and impossible to ignore.

This is a night where the LGBTQ+ community stands at the centre but where everyone is welcome: all races, all identities, all beliefs, all ways of moving. No expectations, no roles to follow—just respect, openness, and the freedom to dance.

Alex Figueira

The Venezuelan-Portuguese musician, producer, DJ and record collector – aka ‘the hardest working man in Tropical music’ – is currently based in Brussels. Globe-trotting for the past 15 years, he’s built one of the most world-renowned record collections in Tropical music, which he showcases on all his DJ sets. You will hear music you didn’t know existed and rethink what “dance music” is supposed to mean.

MeRas

DJ MeRas is an Aruban DJ who blends Caribbean and Latin Sounds into vibrant, high energy sets. Over the past year she has been performing mainly within the queer scene, bringing people together on the dance floor. Music is her passion, something you can both hear and feel in every set.

El Javier_B

A DJ and vinyl collector from Maracaibo, Venezuela, El Javier_B’s sound flows between the tropical rhythms of the Caribbean and cosmic Afro vibrations. A regular at WORM and Operator Radio with his show Crema, he blends energy, groove, and sonic exploration in mixes that turn the dance floor into a collective journey.

Krmen (Live Percussion)

Carmen is a versatile and experienced percussionist who specializes in Latin and Brazilian percussion with a heritage of West-African drumming and a background in classical percussion. She is part of several projects such as: Las Hienas, Afloje, La Reunion, and Ripa Na Tulipa.

Javier from Salsa Para Todx explains the night: "Salsa music as we know it today has been around since the mid-70s. During that time, dancers were familiar with their steps, and there was a strong social bond between working-class neighbourhoods and the culture. However, Salsa slowly became associated with traditional stereotypes: with only men and women dancing together, specific dress codes, and a certain ballroom style. This led to a disconnect with a significant portion of the community. With this party, I aim to use the WORM dance floor to restore Salsa’s connection with the broader community. There will be no dress codes, no stereotypes, and no rigid dance steps—everyone is welcome! Our first edition of Salsa Para Todxs in June was a beautiful success, and we hope to recreate that magic in October."
