TAAPITA | The songs of desires and devotions
NL
Taapita is a four-part Bharatanatyam solo performance about love, longing and devotion. The dance takes you through a world of fiery passion, deep connection and the pain that can sometimes accompany love — like a long, sweltering summer day that is both intense and beautiful.
Accompanied by recorded music, the performance journeys through different worlds and stories. From the regal atmosphere of the Mannargudi Rajagopalaswamy Temple to Mata Sita’s intimate chamber in Lanka, and then into the spiritual landscapes of Odisha. Here, the centuries-old Bhakti poetry of Banamali Dasa comes to life.
The journey ends at the sanctuary of Bhagawan Vishnu, where love and devotion come together in a spiritual and contemplative finale.
Concept, choreography and performance: Pritam Das
