Engelse post-punkband combineert indierock met scherpe spoken word-teksten
De Engelse post-punkband Yard Act combineert dansbare, minimalistische indierock met scherpe spoken word-teksten. Vocalist James Smith mag dan een gewone naam hebben, op het podium is hij een charismatische frontman die (zoals de Vlaamse krant De Morgen het omschrijft) ‘het midden houdt tussen Ian Curtis en Samuel T. Herring van Future Islands’. Inmiddels heeft Yard Act twee albums uit, The Overload (2022) en Where’s My Utopia? (2024), met daarop thinking man’s bangers als Dark Days, Dream Job en The Overload. Nieuw werk is in aantocht, in de zomer van 2026 verschijnt hun derde album getiteld 'You're Gonna Need A Little Music'.
